VANCOUVER — BeatRoute.ca is proud to premiere the track “Hateful,” from The Ballantynes’ recently released tour cassette on La-Ti-Da Records. A long time staple of their live show, this standout cover evokes the spirit of the source (The Clash’s “London Calling”), while infusing their trademark organ wailing, hip shaking, tambourine shimmering, trouble you want to get into:
Along with “Hateful” and the otherwise physically unissued “Matchbook,” this limited edition cassette compiles their first three out-of-print singles and will be available on all upcoming tour stops.
The Ballantynes are in the midst of their U.S. West Coast tour. This past week saw them recording at B-Side Studios in Portland with Vancouver ex-pat Greg Pothier and partner Raymond Richards at the helm. Then it was a trek across the desert for appearances in Austin and Tuscon, leaving a trail of fireworks duds and taco wrappers in their wake.
All of the fireworks and all of the tacos.
Stay tuned for a full tour diary feature, upcoming soon to beatroute.ca, and if you’re in the U.S. West Coast, catch The Ballantynes on the remaining dates below and stay tuned for more from the band on their Facebook tour page:
